Sometimes DJ, sometimes Graphic Designer, David Barlow got lost in the music ! and then got lost again !![]()
Learning to mix first on CDs, then followed by 10 years on the dex, David is only now coming to grips with the digital age. At first his vinyl friends weren’t too impressed, but David thinks there’s more to good DJering than just getting the beats to match.
“For me it’s about energy and structure, heads down for the beat & hands in the air when it really counts. Mixing in a digital environment means I can remix on the fly, changing the structure of a tune and aiming for the optimum mix”.
As part of The ICS Sound System David helped organise, promote and played at parties all over London – to the very best of crowds. “Underground Parties are where it’s at – we’re all there for the same thing, that, and ya can smoke on the dancefloor.

“A favourite DJ told me that Tech-House wasn’t a sound in itself, but was created by mixing House with Tekno, two genres that can be traced back to Chicago and Detroit and beyond. These are my favorite dance floor sounds, but we’ve come a long way since then.”
With an eclectic taste that also includes hip-hop, trip-hop, glitch-hop, electronica, rock, soul, funk, and not to forget disco, and dub, David is now experimenting with Dub Step and beginning to produce his own material and remix.
“I’m looking forward to working with SoundCloud artists, finding new musicians and new producers and finding new tunes, and getting them in the mix – before they make it big – cos they will!”
